For Students
The Young Writers’ Workshops are one-day workshops where students get to choose the sessions they would like to attend. The staff welcomes interested students and motivated writers in grades 4-12. The cost of the workshop is $60.00.

- Writing from Personal Experience
- Visualization
- Theater Sports
- Mystery Stories
- Science Fiction Stories

- Poetry
- Dialogue & Characterization
Offered on March 6 and April 17:
- College Application Essay Writing (open to grades 10-12 ONLY)
For Parents
Parents are invited to attend a discussion on supporting your students as writers. This discussion is free of charge and will take place from 11:50 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on all three dates. There is no need to notify us in advance if you wish to attend this discussion.
Paid Parents’ Workshop
In addition, we are offering parents the opportunity to participate in a writing workshop. On March 6, the topic will be Art as a Springboard for Writing; on April 17, Poetry; and on April 24, Writing from Personal Experience. The Paid Parents’ Workshop will take place from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on all three dates, and costs $20.00.
Please Note:
The registration deadline for the March 6 workshop is February 26. The registration deadline for the April 17 and April 24 workshops is April 8. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. The workshops invariably fill up well in advance of the registration deadline, so get yours in early.
Because space is limited and demand is high, we ask that you register for only one date. Registrations for more than one date will not be accepted; we will ask you to choose just one.
If you are registering more than one student, you must complete a separate registration for each one.

You may register online or through the mail.

My daughter attended the workshop a few years ago, and would like to attend another workshop this spring. I vaguely remember that there were three choices to make in order of priority. What I don’t remember is whether they actually attended on or two out of the three choices, or if they only attended just one choice.
I thought that my daughter attended both the fantasy writing and poetry writing on that same day – not sure. It’s not explained well enough just how many of the choices that they can attend. Thanks!
She attend two workshops and a third session which was a reading-writing session. This last session gives the writers a chance to reflect on the skills they learned in their workshops, perhaps write some more, and get feedback on what they wrote.
