All Issues of the Journal of the Virginia Writing Project are Now Online

Category: Teacher Leadership, Teachers Write

In July of 2011, the NVWP staff began digitizing the back issues of the Journal of the Virginia Writing Project.  All of the previous issues of the Journal are now online.  To view the issues please visit: The Archives of the Journal of the Virgnia Writing Project.  We are now compiling author and subject indexes that will allow readers to search the archives by author and subject. If you are an NVWP TC and would be willing to assist us in completing this project please contact us at contact@nvwp.org

The Journal of the Virginia Writing Project continues to accept submissions.  New articles will be posted online and compiled in a yearly print anthology, which will be available in print.  We want to publish your lesson plans, your teaching philosophy, or your ideas for welcoming students to the world of writing. We’re also looking for reviews of books about writing and writing instruction or stories about what you’re writing, ways you’re leading, and of course, what’s happening in your classroom.

We welcome the following submissions:

  • Feature Articles (1000–2000 words): Feature articles can be on nearly anything dealing with the teaching of writing. Past articles have covered gender issues, teaching writing abroad, publishing in the classroom, and assessment, but we welcome articles on other aspects of teaching writing. Call or e-mail to discuss your idea with an editor.
  • Event Spotlight (300–1000 words): Cover an event put on by your site—a writing and reflection retreat, a conference on the teaching of writing, or some other event.
  • Power Lessons (300–750 words): Short, practical lesson plans to bring writing into the classroom. Cross-curricular ideas are encouraged.
  • Reader’s Choice (300–750 words): Reviews of recent books about the teaching of writing. Before writing, call or e-mail to make sure that we haven’t already run a review of the same book.
  • Voices (50–750 words): As space permits, we publish poetry and short prose from teacher/consultants.
  • Readers Write (300 or fewer words on a prearranged subject): Anecdotes, stories, and short essays.

Please send all submissions and queries to the editor of the Journal of the Virginia Writing Project Pete Pazmino <ppazz@comcast.net>
