Writing and Wine Tasting: The NVWP 2012 Fall Renewal

Category: Teachers Write, The Writing Life

The NVWP is very pleased to announce that this year’s Fall Renewal will take place at Rappahannock Cellars Winery in Huntly Virginia.  The focus of our renewal this year will be on the the joy of writing, friends, and wine!

The 2012 Fall Renewal will also mark the launch of a series of 4 writing workshops  for NVWP Teacher Consultants that we will be hosting this year.  This initial workshop will be facilitated by NVWP Teacher Consultants extraordinaire Pete Pazmino (Fiction), Kathy Smaltz (Poetry), and Mary Tedrow (Professional).  This first workshop will be a Brainstorming/Creation Workshop.  The 2nd and 3rd workshops will focus on revision/re-writing/re-imagining work, and the 4th will focus on publishing.  Of course, we’ll be sharing our writing, when it makes sense, all along the way.

During our time together, in addition to sampling some fantastic Virginia Wines, we will work through a number of activities designed to get us started on multiple drafts/ideas.

Here are the details:

Where:  Rappahannock Cellars, the Club Members’ Room. The address is 4437 County Road 635Huntly, VA 22640 Basically, from NOVA, take 66 west to the Front Royal exit (55), take that toward Front Royal, turn left onto 522 (toward Flint Hill), and go about 10ish miles.  We encourage you to carpool with your writing group or other TCs!

When: October 27th 9am – 1:pm

What to bring: Your laptop and or journal.  No drafts needed beforehand since this is a brainstorming workshop. Bring a sweater (we may spend some time in the cellar) and snacks. There will of course be wine available at the winery.

Why: To have a new piece of writing (fiction, poetry, or professional) ready to publish by 2013!

Because space is limited, this event is for Writing Project Teacher Consultants only.

Please RSVP before October 20th by clicking here.

There is no cost to attend, but we do encourage you to take the opportunity to buy a couple of bottles or a case of wine from our hosts!  If you have any questions please contact us at contact@nvwp.org
