Taking Writing Home is intended specifically to bridge the gulf between school and home. Teachers will value its research-based ideas. Parents will value its jargon-free, approachable language. And students will find the writing exercises and ideas challenging and fun. Better yet, they’ll learn that writing is something that exists outside an English classroom. What better way to learn to value writing?

Each issue of Taking Writing Home contains articles and columns covering such topics as:

* tips for revision that encourage children to keep writing
* writing as a family
* markets for publishing children’s writing
* writing resources on the World Wide Web for parents and students
* writing prompts, brainstorming activities, and more!

Taking Writing Home Sample Newsletter

Although NVWP is not currently producing issues of Taking Writing Home, we have in stock back issues from the previous three years (2003-2004, 2004-2005, and 2005-2006), nine issues per year, twenty-seven issues in all. These back issues are available for purchase by schools and individuals.

For schools, the cost to purchase back issues of Taking Writing Home is $100 for each year (nine issues), or $250 for all three years (twenty-seven issues). The school will be purchasing the rights to distribute as many copies of these issues as the school desires to all students, parents, faculty, and staff within that school’s direct community.

For individual home-school parents, the cost to purchase back issues is $10 for each year, or $25 for all three years. The individual will be purchasing the rights to distribute copies to the individual’s family only.
