Young Writers

The Young Writers program is designed to help student writers in the Northern Virginia area improve their comfort and skill in various genres of writing. We offer one-day workshops in the fall and spring and a two-week “institute” in the summer.

One-Day Workshops

NVWP offers one-day student workshops at George Mason University in the Fall and Spring of each academic year. Students work with Teacher/Consultants on a wide range of writing, including fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and script. Fall workshops are open to students in grades 5-12; Spring workshops are open to students in grades 4-12. Read more …

An annual, two-week writing enrichment program for approximately 100 selected students from grades 5-12 who come to the George Mason campus to work with Teacher/ Consultants. The writing produced in the Institute is published in an anthology and celebrated as a culminating event at the Institute. Read more …
